While boxing may seem like a departure for the Irish Center SF, it has come as a nice surprise to the Sunset District. “We held our first amateur boxing night since 2019 last month. It was so successful that we wanted to offer it again, this time showcasing both professional and amateur boxers in a hybrid event”, says UICC president Liam Reidy.
“It’s a fantastic way for boxing fans from all over the Bay area to hang out with the boxing lovers of the Sunset. It’s about the exhilaration of the sport,” Reidy notes.
The Irish Center SF is well known in the neighborhood and around San Francisco for its outdoor music and gathering space, Wawona Gates, The Center’s month-long celebration of St. Patrick’s Day, plus Irish dancing competitions, an Irish library, exhibits, and concerts. With boxing, the Irish Center opens a new and exciting offering to sports enthusiasts.
