Drama Society Auditions: “Lovers—Winners and Losers”

June 29 @ 7:30 pm

Director Michael Dillon and the Irish Center SF Drama Society are mounting a special production of Brian Friel’s “Lovers—Winners and Losers”—a play in two parts. Plan on Wednesday night rehearsals beginning this summer.

Auditions for the Christmas time production are scheduled for Wednesday, June 29 starting at 7:30 pm in the Members Room. Youth ages 8-12 and young adult/adults ages 16+ (teen-senior citizen) are encouraged to audition.

Winners and Losers, in very different ways, both address love, what it means, and the choices we make when we fall deeply, desperately, into it. Lovers premiered at the Gate Theatre, Dublin Ireland in 1967. The play was subsequently produced on Broadway at Vivian Beaumont Theatre, (7/25/1968 – 11/30/1968) and then The Music Box Theatre, (9/17/1968 – 11/30/1968). The production starred Art Carney, Anna Manahan, Fionnula Flanagan, Eamon Morrissey, Beulah Garrick, and Grania O’Malley.
