Dear Members and Friends of the United Irish Cultural Center,

As we move into September, it is my pleasure to inform you of the fact that your Board of Directors’ decision to remain open for business for the entire month of August has been shown to make a considerable difference (increase) in income over past years’ closures. As a Center, our bar, restaurant and banquets have been patronized throughout the month. More information on comparative financials will be forthcoming at our General Membership Meeting this month.

The highlights of the month of September are many and wonderful. On September 19th, we will welcome Seamus Whitney back to San Francisco and the UICC. Seamus’ support of the Cuchullain Foundation is so important to the UICC and the Irish Community. Come out on the 19th at 7 pm to greet, meet and thank Seamus himself!

September 20th is the date for our 40th Anniversary Fundraiser. The Fundraiser Committee has been working long and hard to assure that this afternoon is a memorable, fun affair providing monetary resources to the Center for some much-needed large change items! Let’s continue Center upgrade and have a wonderful, memorable afternoon at the same time.

It would be impossible to leave August in the past without a formal “hats-off” to UICC member, Liam Riedy, for his work on various events at the Center. The Finbar Furey event was a joy in itself and brought many to our wonderful facilities here at the Center. His work with several school clubs to bring families to the Center has been great! We all look forward to the High Kings Concert in October. Thanks so much, Liam, for your hard work and dedication to the Center’s well-being!

Here’s to the best September ever. See you all in the restaurant, at a banquet or an event!

In Unity,

Judith Kell, President

UCC Board of Directors
