Dear Members,
At last night’s General Membership Meeting our Nominating Committee introduced four wonderful candidates to fill spots being vacated by Board Members who have completed their terms. The candidates presented by our Nominating Committee include: Shannon Durkin, Brian Gaffney, Patrick Shannon, Jr. and James Sweeney. Election of the Nominees will occur at our next meeting of the Membership on October 25, 2018 at 7:30 PM. More information about each candidate is presented on our website.
I would like to thank those members of the Board that are completing their terms and recognize them for the incredible service they have given to the Center: Bill Luque, Jo Coffey, Caitie O’Shea and Valerie McGrew. They will all remain very involved on Committees.
We also discussed the ongoing challenges being faced by our food and beverage operations. Operational deficits have been worsening this year, primarily as a consequence of lagging banquet business. We discussed efforts to turn this around including marketing to gain new business. Our Operations Committee has reinstated weekly meetings and the staff and board are discussing new business opportunities weekly. The Board and Finance Committee are also actively evaluating various options to stem losses in this area and more news will be forthcoming soon.
On the Cultural side, there is more to celebrate with many successful events and we welcome you to look at our website, e-blasts and social media regularly for more information.
