Happy Saint Patrick’s Day! March is the month that we take the time to honor our Irish Story. We dust off our green shirts, ties, and hats and make plans to eat corned beef and listen to our favorite Irish music. We have extra pep in our step as the days count down until March 17th.
Angela Tickler, Jennifer Gauthier, Molly Burke and team (including Angela’s Mom Carmel) have been organizing and sorting the upstairs and downstairs kitchens. We found dishes and glasses and menus from the 1980s. A big thank you for all their hard work as we move toward multiple caterer options for all your event needs! New room rates! The UICC has joined an event venue booking website called PeerSpace and we are going live March 1. This will help us to advertise to a broader audience for our room rentals. Please be certain that your Club or Group has reserved all your meetings for the year! Contact Angela at ATickler@IrishCenterSF.org or call/text 1(415)741-8803 to book your event. Tea and Coffee service is now available for Club and Group Meetings, at the low cost of $1 per person. We also now have milk – yes, milk – available for your tea…
We are asking all Clubs and Groups to use the parking lot entrances for their meetings. This helps us to keep track of entrances when there’s only one person on staff, and also helps us keep out unwanted guests who increasingly tend to wander through the front door when it’s left open. We appreciate your cooperation! And there’s a new doorbell on the back door!
The UICC March Calendar is filled with something for everyone, wonderful events I hope you’ll attend and share with family and friends. Our events are only as good as the guests that attend them, so please do come and enjoy musicians, feminists, artistic sisters, Guinness, a block party, corned beef and more music. You just need to mark your calendar, invite your friends and set a date to meet at The Center. Many hands make light work so if you have time to volunteer during March 13th-18th we could definitely use your help. Please look out for an email, or volunteer online at Volunteer@IrishCenterSF.org.

A couple of reminders:
• The Center has honored the story of the Irish immigrant since 1975. Please join us for our 45 Years on 45th Avenue Anniversary Celebration on April 25th. Tickets include three stages filled with music, food stations, exhibits of photos and ephemera and additional surprises. Don’t miss your chance to view never before seen photos and videos. Catch up with friends and family.
• If you know a student going off to high school or college please encourage them to apply for the UICC Leo Walsh Scholarship Program. Students can download the application from the UICC website and submit their application by March 13th, 2020 via mail or drop off to The Center.
• Book your Holy Communion, Confirmation and graduation parties here at the United Irish Cultural Center. Starting March 1st, we will have an expanded list of preferred caterers that you can choose from. The preferred caterers list is being finalized this week with exciting new options in addition to Knight’s trusted elegance and service.
• If you have not renewed your membership, please do so as soon as possible.
I’d like to pause for a moment to honor Adrian Kelly, RIP. Adrian loved The Center. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Maureen and the Kelly Family, and their extended Knight’s Catering Family. Knight’s support has been a critical part of our evolving business model and their partnership never wavered, even during the difficult months of Adrian’s illness.
