Irish-Brazilian Night with Film and Music

April 4 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The Man Behind The White Guitar, a film about the life and music of Brazilian Guitarist José Pires de Almeida Neto will be screened at the UICC as part of a cross-cultural event of music, film, and some behind-the-scenes Irish connections.

Meet Jose Neto who will bring the film to life by sharing a bit of live music and talk about his work and his global career. Neto served the great social justice musician Harry Belafonte as guitarist and music director for thirty years and Steve Winwood for twenty years. He has had his own band, The Netoband, for nearly thirty years, touring internationally. The London Times has written “he’s beyond Hendrix”.

This internationally acclaimed Indie film is supported by Deborah Santana and was created by an international film crew who came to this project to give back to this very humble musician who has been a stand for so many others. People have often asked “Who is that man behind the white guitar?” Come and find out, and meet the man yourself. This is a very rare opportunity. And discover the links to the Irish stories behind this film.

Film producer, Barbara McVeigh, is a member of the UICC. For more information see film website
