Kick off St Patrick’s season with a look at Ireland’s cinematic past!

Join the Consulate General of Ireland and the San Francisco Film Preserve during on Tuesday March 12th at the Roxie Theatre in San Francisco for “Early Irish Films”, a celebration of Ireland in the early days of the silent silver screen.

On view are two rare silent movies: “You Remember Ellen, filmed on location in Ireland by the so-called “O’Kalem” company in 1912, and The Gault Collection, an ethnographic collection shot on the Irish coast in the mid-1920s, accompanied by traditional Irish music by Cormac Gannon and Kyle Alden.

After the screening SFFP Executive Director Kathy Rose O’Regan and Cultural Officer Elizabeth Creely will discuss the restoration process, and Hollywood’s enduring fascination with Ireland’s landscapes, stories, and people.
