Golden Shamrock Award 2026

Honoring Outstanding Dedication to Irish Culture and Heritage

Award Overview

Established in 2025, our Golden Anniversary Year—50 years in the Golden State and not far from the iconic Golden gate Bridge, the Golden Shamrock Award is presented annually by the United Irish Cultural Center of San Francisco to recognize a distinguished member whose con-tributions exemplify the mission of the UICC—celebrating, promoting, and preserving Irish cul-ture and heritage.

Just as there are three leaves in the shamrock, this prestigious honor highlights an individual’s dedication to three areas: fostering cultural awareness; strengthening community bonds and ensuring that the rich traditions of Ireland continue to thrive in the Bay Area and beyond.

2026 Awardee, Jeanne Connolly

The United Irish Cultural Center of San Francisco is proud to honor Jeanne Connolly as the 2026 recipient of the Golden Shamrock Award, recognizing her outstanding dedication to Irish culture, community, and service.

A third-generation Irish American from Chicago’s South Side, Jeanne brings both heritage and heart to everything she does. She and her husband, John, have been part of San Francisco’s Sunset neighborhood for more than thirty years, where they raised their three sons and built a life rooted in community, service, and generosity.

Jeanne’s professional background as an actuarial analyst with Allianz Insurance sharpened her exceptional skills in financial stewardship—skills she has generously shared across Irish organizations in the Bay Area. She previously served as Treasurer for San Francisco Youth GAA and Pearse Óg GAA, including key roles on the Planning Committees for the North American Continental Youth Championships in 2015 and 2023.

Since joining the UICC Board in 2021, Jeanne has become a steady and trusted leader, serving as Treasurer from 2023 to 2026. Known for her humility and tireless work ethic, she is a true servant leader—often working quietly behind the scenes to ensure the success of UICC programs, cultural initiatives, and community gatherings. With a keen head for figures and a deep love for Irish tradition, Jeanne exemplifies the balance of competence and care that sustains strong institutions.

The Golden Shamrock Award honors individuals who foster cultural awareness, strengthen community bonds, and ensure that Irish traditions continue to thrive. Jeanne Connolly embodies these values fully, giving generously of her time, talent, and treasure, and inspiring others to remain deeply connected to their Irish heritage.

Her dedication reflects the very mission of the United Irish Cultural Center—and we are grateful to celebrate her at this year’s Emerald Gala.
