Premiere Video: 45 by 45: Hibernian Halls and Irish Centers in San Francisco

Join us for the world premiere of “45 by 45: Hibernian Halls and Irish Centers in San Francisco” by documentarian Joey Yee for San Francisco History Days 2020 See schedule: https://sfhistorydays.org/

Ireland’s Consul General Robert O’Driscoll, UICC President Anne Cassidy Carew and urban historian Elizabeth Creely explore the sites of the City’s Irish Halls from east to west, 1850 to 2020 and beyond.

This short film looks at the history of 160 years of Hibernian Halls and Irish Centers in San Francisco from the first site in the South of Market to the latest, The United Irish Cultural Center located on 45th Avenue, celebrating its 45th anniversary this year.

Created as a part of SF History Days 2020 Virtual Programme and to celebrate the United Irish Cultural Center’s 45 years on 45th Avenue, including books and ephemera from the UICC’s Dowling Library.
