Irish fiction, music, history, sport, politics, humor & drama
Comedy, the Clash, climate change, Celtic rock & craic… (and that’s just the letter ‘C’!), Hinterland brings Irish stuff (fiction, music, history, sport, politics, humour & drama) to San Francisco, and blends in some local flavours. Enjoy perspectives from novelists Liz Nugent, Emer Martin, Ethel Rohan; and renowned playwright Matthew Spangler. Rock and roll with Jim Lockhart (Horslips band), Brian Murphy (KNBR radio), and comedian Dave Nihill; and learn about the local Irish experience with Elizabeth Creely (Mission Local), historian Gray Brechin (Living New Deal), and filmmaker Geordie Lynch.
Hinterland will be a brilliant bijou, an eclectic festival of 12-15 events, encompassing Irish and Irish-American fiction and non-fiction elements between 8-10 November, 2019 in San Francisco.
Hinterland will be hosted by the Mechanics’ Institute Library in downtown San Francisco, a superb, centrally located venue with a long tradition of staging cultural events. Generous support is provided by Culture Ireland, the Irish Consulate, and members of the local Irish American community.
